My Windows 10 Pc Says It Cant Sign Me Into My Account and Wants Me to Try Again but Wont Sign in

Hi Hunter. I'm Greg, awarded MVP for eleven years, Volunteer Moderator, and Independent Advisor here to help you until this is resolved.

From time to time WIndows may need to be repaired, reinstalled, have it's drivers updated, etc. These are normal and should not require buying a new computer. A computer is hardware, the problems you're having is with software which is always reparable or can just be reinstalled

1) See if you can System Restore to a point before the problem started:
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-system-r...
If it won't work from Windows try from the Repair Mode by one of these methods:
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanc...

System Restore is your first line of defense and can take you back to a point before a problem began. If it doesn't help then you can undo it. Read about it first in the tutorial above and then try restoring to just before this started.

If the problem repeats or System Restore doesn't work then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool explained here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/8280-hide-s...

2) See fixes for "Something happened and your PIN isn't available" known error:
https://thegeekpage.com/something-happened-and-...
https://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/some...
https://windowsreport.com/pin-sign-in-windows-10/ (Avoid ad links which intrude into editorial copy, especially avoid Restoro ad)

3) If those don't help the failure of a known good password is often caused by account corruption. To fix or replace the corrupted account, enable the built-in Hidden Administrator from the sign in screen:
https://www.isumsoft.com/it/enable-hidden-admin... (Avoid the password reset link at the end of the editorial copy)

To avoid the need for failing password, this requires accessing the Command Prompt using bootable media which is the only method that doesn't require a password. If you don't want to do that then you can try now to Reset Windows 10 from the Sign in Screen as shown in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zonjyd2L_GQ

To replace or repair the old account go to another PC to create bootable media following the steps toward the bottom of the download page here in the section "Using the tool to create installation media:"
https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/software-downlo... Uncheck the box for Recommended Settings to choose the exact version and bit rate for the target PC only.

Insert media, boot it by powering up PC while pressing the BIOS Boot Menu Key: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutor...

If the media won't boot you may need to enter BIOS/UEFI Setup (pressing key given in chart in link above) to turn off Fast Boot or Fast Startup first.

Choose the boot device as a UEFI device if offered, on second screen choose Repair Your Computer, then Advanced Troubleshoot Options to open Command Prompt to enable the built-in Hidden Administrator per the very first tutorial. Sign into it leaving the password box blank.

Then create a new Local Admin account to replace yours:
https://www.isumsoft.com/windows-10/3-ways-to-c...
http://www.windowscentral.com/how-change-user-a...

Sign into the new account, test it works and resolves the problem(s), if so you can move your files over at C:\Users.

You can also try to repair the old Account by running a Repair Install by running the media you created earlier from Windows as shown here: https://www.yourwindowsguide.com/2016/06/how-to.... This reinstalls Windows while saving your files and apps in place; takes about an hour, resolves most problems. It also brings it to the latest version by the most stable method.

If it doesn't fix the old account, when ready you can delete the old account by one of these methods:
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5464-delete...

Then if desired change it to a MS Account: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5375-switch...

And if all that fails from bootable media choose Install Now, then Custom Install, then at the drive selection screen delete all partitions down to Unallocated Space to get it cleanest, click Next to let it create needed partitions and start install - this makes it foolproof.

Everything needed to get the best possible Clean Install is here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki.... It is a better install than any amount of money can buy and a great learning experience that will make you the master of your PC because you will learn what works best and how to apply it with your own hands.

If you have files that aren't backed up you can use the same bootable media to try to rescue your files using these methods: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you will wait to choose if I solved your problem, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Technical support policy for lost or forgotten passwords - Microsoft 365 Security | Microsoft Docs

@Greg:

Quote from linked Microsoft Technical support policy:

Microsoft takes security seriously. This is for your protection. Microsoft accounts, the Windows operating system, and other Microsoft products include passwords to help secure your information. This article provides some options that you can use to reset or recover your password if you forget it. Hello Greg,

I was going to try some of the methods that you listed, however when I try to do that. It brings up a blue screen where it asks me for my account, and it wants me to log in to my account. And again, the password is typed in correctly, and it still says it's incorrect. This happens for every nearly every option I've tested in troubleshooting settings other then enabling safe mode.

Hunter -

If you cannot interrupt the attempt to start into Windows with the Advanced Startup Options I gave you by one of these methods:
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanc...

then you will need to create bootable media and follow the steps I gave to properly interrupt Windows attempt to start and boot into the media instead to do the specified repairs or Reset. There is always a way to do this.

Ok, so I go into the UEFI Firmware settings, and takes me to this thing called 'GIGABYTE - UEFI DualBIOS'. After that, what do I do? I don't understand what that tutorial is saying, and I don't know if I'm at the right place.

Hunter, if you cannot sign into Windows with any account, then I gave you methods in Step 1 to get into the Repair Mode first to try to System Restore to get back before the failure began: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanc...

Easiest is to force shutdown by holding in the power button until it starts into Repair Mode, then go into Advanced Troubleshoot Options to try System Restore.

If that fails you can also try Uninstall Updates in case this was caused by a WIndows Update install.

If none of those work then continue with the steps I gave to Repair or Replace your account. You'll need to create bootable media to boot exactly as I wrote out for you. If you don't want to do that I gave you a video showing how to Reset Windows.

Keep me posted on your progress as I will be here to help until the case is resolved.

When I try to go into automatic repair mode by using the power button, it asks me to select account, and type password in, and again, I type my password in correctly, and it doesn't work.

And since that doesn't work, How would I create bootable media?

You'd need to go to another PC to make the bootable media so that you can get past the password screen.

It's cheaper than taking it to a shop which charges a minimum $150 and will usually reinstall Windows and not do half as good of a job as I show you how to do as a last resort in the steps I gave.
